MR. TAO (formerly Miss China): EDB 8/00, grey and white, medium hair
As you can tell by the name, Mr. Tao has caused us some confusion. He was left in a big cardboard box in front of PetSmart with three other grown cats when he was seven years old. The former owner left a note saying they were nice cats, but he/she couldn't care for them anymore. They were all taken to the vet and given exams, tested, shorts and other minor medical treatment. Mr. Tao, Miss China at that time, was determined to be a female and for several months was treated as a sweet girl. Much to our amazement, in January of 2008, another vet discovered that she was a boy. So we've had to revise our image of him slightly. He's still very sweet and very affectionate. For some reason we cannot understand, he is the only one of the four who was never adopted. Maybe it was because he was suffering an identity crisis. At any rate, he will make a new family very happy; he has lots of love to give and just wants to be appreciated for the handsome, awesome, sweet boy that he is. Please give him a chance.

MURPHY: EDB 2/03, orange, short hair
Murphy just came to the Adoption Center in April 2008. After a long journey from Colorado, he ended up as a stranded kitty with a pet sitter who happens to be a Happy Tails volunteer. He is very lovable and likes to just hang out and watch you. He always sat at the dining room table and watched his foster mom cook dinner. He is very curious and is expert at opening doors to cabinets in order to explore. His biggest joy is sitting in an empty laundry basket. He loves to use his scratching post. He must be adopted with his friend, Mickey. They aren't brothers, but they have been together a long time and would be lost without each other.

NIÑA: EDB 8/07, black and white, short hair
Niña appeared in the PetSmart parking lot in June 2008 with her kittens. It is hard to imagine that she had kittens since she looks like a baby herself. Homes were found for the kittens, and she was relocated to our Adoption Center to get spayed and to find a home. She has clearly lived in a home before and is used to people. She is quite a little talker and very affectionate. She is very friendly and loves people.

PEANUT: EDB 8/06, brown tabby, short hair
Peanut belonged to a former Happy Tails volunteer who could no longer take care of her. She came to the Adoption Center in early April 2008. She is a little shy, but a really nice girl. She wants badly to be friends, but is still scared. She perks right up when you pet her. Your family could be just what she needs to be enticed out of her shell. She is a real love with a great purr, and she already knows that getting scratched underher chin is her favorite thing.

RAY: EDB 7/05, orange, short hair
Ray, together with his brother, Tomm, were trapped in a feral colony in 2005 and deemed to be too friendly to stay with the other feral cats. Together they spent several months at a Happy Tails foster home, and became a little more socialized. The foster parent thought they would become more social at the Adoption Center, so they were transferred to the Center in 2007. Ray is still very timid, and doesn't really interact much with people. He must be adopted together with Tomm, who is more social. We hope that in an understanding home, he will come out of his shell a little more, or that his new home will be willing to let him keep to himself without pressure. He has the potential to be a friendly cat, but it is not likely that he will ever be a lap cat.

ROCKY: EDB 7/01, white and black, short hair
Rocky was dropped off at the Sacramento SPCA and found to be a Happy Tails cat by his microchip. Unfortunately we cannot locate his former paperwork, so we don't have a history on him. He's a big boy and very friendly. We called him Rocky because he boxed with all the equipment and the people when we took him to the vet to be checked out when he came in. He's very funny and very good humored. He would likely prefer to be the only cat, but he could get along with a mild-mannered other cat.

ROMAN: EDB 1/01, brown Abyssinian mix, short hair
Roman has been with Happy Tails since February 2006 after he was found in a feral colony. Although too friendly to stay with the ferals, he is still stand-offish. He was adopted once for a very short time, but was returned in a very short time. Although they were told that he would take months to warm up, they were frustrated that he did not become a lap cat quickly enough. Roman is a very dignified guy, and he occasionally picks an individual that he is very friendly with, but the rest of the time, he likes to keep to himself. If you have the patience and willingness to give him a long time to adjust and warm up, you will be rewarded with loyalty from his handsome boy. If you have a big heart, and a lot of patience, come and meet Roman and take him into your home and your heart.

ROSALINDA: EDB 6/02, black and white tuxedo, short hair
Rosalinda has been back at Happy Tails since February 2007. She had a very nice adoption and was very happy, but unfortunately her owner died. Even though she gets along with the other cats at the Adoption Center, she probably needs to be an only cat because she likes all the attention, and she definitely likes all the food. She has gotten a little heavy and needs someone who can resist her pleas and put her on a strict diet until she loses some weight. But she is a sweet and quiet girl who can warm up your home and heart—even though she has lost her girlish figure. |
