Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary was called in to rescue 14 Persian cats from a woman who passed away unexpectedly in her home May 2. When the fire department entered, it discovered the cats with no food or water. Most were living in cages with newspaper lining the bottom (no beds, blankets or towels), and very dirty litter boxes. Most of the cats were extremely matted, and some had bare skin spots from the matted fur pulling away. None of the cats were spayed/neutered and there were no medical records. The cats range from approximately 1 year to 13 years old.
The cats are safe and sound now in our care — happy to have fresh food and water, and lots of attention. They will be groomed, spayed/neutered, tested with full blood panels, vaccinated and receive dental care.
Vet care is expected to be significant. You can help by donating to our “Persian Rescue Project.” Please send in your donations to Happy Tails at P.O. Box 161994, Sacramento, CA 95816-1994. Please make checks payable to Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary.
